Did you see the Jaundice going around?

So I have taken a bit of a Christmas break. But to appease the blog gods here is a little sketch I did on my NEW wacom tablet! Which means I did it completely on the computer, and drew it and colored it in photoshop. It's pretty much the best thing ever.

Inspiration Comes When Your Not Even Looking

So my near and dear friend Danielle informed me that she reads my blog! And not only that, but she has a suggestion for a featured artist.

David Shrigley. He mixes high brow and low brow (heavy on the low) art.
And after looking at his stuff, I felt inspired myself.

So this first one is basically full on Shringley style.

The second one I took some creative liberties and made it more my own. I really like it.

So thanks Danielle for the suggestion!!
Also, I started this blog for my drawing 2 class, but it is definitely something I am going to keep because I really enjoy it. So don't fret! The posting won't stop!

Zac Efron=Home run.

So because of neodroid I was informed that everyone was hanging out with Zac Efron. Why Zac Efron? I have no idea, but I didn't want to be uncool, so here's what I did with him.

To see more adventures of Zac, just follow the link to more links.

As promised.... art.

Slowly but surely here comes the art I promised. Lately I have been drawing fashion ads. Here are a few that I have sketched.

This one is my favorite.

And I did some experimenting. Sharpie on layered post-it notes.

Cool Purchases

So I support other artist by buying really cool stuff they make.... occasionally.

Today I got this charm at the art walk....(I am a sucker for a pink gazelle)
(Look how happy I am to own this!)
And the cool part is I have seen this girl's etsy account before and thought it was really cool before I saw her tonight. So here it is if you want to look into her stuff.

And I may or may not have purchased one of Kate Beaton's shirts online that look a little something like this.....

Cool Things On The Internet...

Look forward to my art post(s) coming this week..... sometime.
In the mean time explore some minim, opposite of maxims. It's classic sayings, only twisted by a small change to make them meaningless. Cleaver.

Post Card

So I thought I'd post a postcard I made and plan to send to my brother when I get a second. It reminds me of Napoleon (but I'm sure others would say Elvis). I really hate how I did the text, the font is all wrong for the subject! That'll teach me to just draw what I want instead of thinking about it!

What I wish it would look more like....

T-shirt design

A little something I made the the community service sorority here at Flagler. It seems so simple but took me a couple hours, makes me just realize that I am not very good at making things from scratch... or on illustrator. There was a lot of fighting, but I really like the result. Hopefully so will the other girls and they will make this a shirt!

Another Comic!

The first part is an actual conversation I overheard in art history class, it was so funny, I immediately knew I needed to make a comic.

COMICS

Horray! I have been trying to expirement with comic panels and different emotions. I got inspired after reading Andrew Lorenzi. Sometimes I feel like I don't show people the real me, and then they think I have no personality. NOT the case. Anyways, I am sure these images would look nicer if I took the time to erase the pencil lines.... but that will probably be my downfall because I can never be bothered to do that! Oh well. Sorry about my scan quality, and remember to click to make 'em bigger! Enjoy.

MORE Cool Things On The Internet...

So I quick update, I am in Orlando for the weekend, but I found some awesome links. My endless hours of wasting time on the internet has finally paid off!

First, I LOVE Pixar and found this neat little site that has compiled all the art and sketches for their movies!!!
http://www.theartofpixar.com/

Next, I found this really cool websites that sells cards artists make and you can fill them in yourself. They are pretty awesome! Very illustrative!
loadedblankshq.com

And lastly I found this AMAZING illstrater/puppet maker/comic maker. She is amazing.
Her Blog. Her Website. (just click which one you want to see.)

I know I have been falling behind on posting, so that is something I am going to work on. It will be easier now that 18 days of 100 drawings isn't stressing me out. I think I did well on that assignment! So here are some things out of my sketchbook which also feels neglected. Sorry, I'll try and make everything/one feel loved again. :)

Also, did you know when you click on the images they get bigger? ;)

Artist you should know....

John Malloy.
He does some awesome illustrations.

Coming Soon

So did you know October 28 is World Animation Day!?!

And it JUST so happens that I am making my own animation! So in honor of it, I think I will publish it online on this day! I just have to animate it on the computer now.

If you want to find out more about World Animation Day or watch some animations then go to http://nfb.ca/webextension/get-animated/?fid=1#player . I highly recommend "At Home With Mrs. Hen" because when those chickens walk it is hilarious, the sound effects are spectacular, and the story is pretty cute.

Update

I have been super busy with little time to update and I do feel guilty!
So here's a couple quick things from my sketchbook which I have been trying to invest more time into.

A dedication to the Falls we don't have in Florida.

An ink and nib drawing.

Tonight we ate at the Prince of Wales and sat outside. This house/shop was across the street.

I bought a new assorted set of micron pens and have been enjoying them a lot!

Artists

This week's artist you should know is PICASSO!
We watched a video in Art History III narrated by a English man who his friend. He was a really cool dude born in Spain, but lived a lot of his life in Paris. Of course we all know he had a blue period and a cubist period, but he did other really cool stuff as well. But he liked to party and do drugs, and was really superstitious, posessed a huge ego, and had loads of angst! How cool?

He was a master painter at like 10,

He painted self portraits of himself dressed in costume, mostly a harlequin,

Painted a lot of allegory (this picture was really supposed to be about Picasso, but then he changed it to his dear friend who committed suicide. The blue represents spirit, but this painting is really about death),

and he made really cool sculptures, he would make two, then keep one and sell the other.

I think I am going to go to the Picasso museum in Paris this summer!

Sketches

Since I couldn't bare to be parted with my beloved sketchbook that I hate, my Professor was kind enough to give it back after she graded it. I was really excited to show you guys I couple of images that I made a few days back!

Another hourly comic. I always want to put an 'i' in hourly and here I slipped. But the good news is this one actually goes past 6pm! I am getting better. Maybe the next one in color? *gasp!* My Mom called to tell me how she really liked the horse but didn't really like my comics. Haha, sorry Mom, here is another for you!

The scanner made it a little blurry on the bottom. Not me.

Busy Bee

Ugh, I have so much WORK in all my classes. But I figured you out there in the cyber-world needed some more cool artist so I am showing you the way to Danielle Rizzolo.
http://www.danieller.com/

Also if you haven't seen Josh Keyes work where have you been hiding yourself?
http://www.joshkeyes.net/index.htm

**But most importantly have you seen this??
http://wolfieandthesneak.com/peer
They got 25 different artists to do self portraits of themselves and made it a coloring book! So you can color the piece however you want! So cool.

Part Two-thanks for caring.

So part two is all about comics. Here are two hourly comics I did this week. I took the idea from Ryan Peg, who took it from someone else. One big sharing stealing art community. The only thing is I never had enough determination/ exciting stuff/ awareness of time to complete a whole day, but they were a lot of fun and I plan to do some more.

This one I did a while back but am still pretty fond of. Its a scene from the song Tree Hugger by Kimya Dawnson and the Antsy Pants.

Huge Post. Part 1

So I haven't posted anything all weekend? Well lucky for you I am stuck in the library because of it is poring outside and I finally got the scanner to work! So I am going to split it in two posts for my own sanity.

Part One is going to be some photographs I took in St Augustine.
Happy Fall everyone! Here are some photos taken in a church pumpkin patch!

Outside Ponce De Leon Hall. I love lions.

A courtyard in the Lightener Museum. The bushes were making a beautiful shadow pattern.

Cool Things On The Internet...

So if your like me you spend way to much time on the internet accomplishing little in the so called 'real world'. I am still really getting into comics and have engulfed myself into the illustrator/comic maker world at livejournal. So here are some cool time wasters.

Cool things that are happening this week/month.
Owltober. A new owl everyday of October.- http://sayunclecomics.livejournal.com/

Music Video

Music and art are intertwined, so much of one involves the other. This week I am pointing am out a music video that I think is done really amazingly. The filmed it with a rotoscope and then traced frame by frame. It's pretty fantastic.

And if you like the song, check out London, London by Cibelle with Devendra Banhart. That's another great video.

2-D Design Books

So for my 2-D Design class we are making 3 books; one representational, one abstract, and one that is a combination of both. I only have the first two done, but I thought it would be fun to show the images side by side since the are suppose to represent the same feeling.

I had a lot of fun creating both sets of images and went about creating them in extremely opposite ways. The representational was more set and planned, while the abstract used more impromptu and organic methods. In a sense the images kind of created themselves. So it will be interesting to see how these two merge together in the next book. Stay tuned!
