DIY Glitter Flats

So recently I saw this post; http://www.wearenotmartha.com/2010/12/make-your-own-glitter-flats/
And decided I could do this myself. So this week flats are on sale at Target and I thought what better time?
So here's what I started with....

-Shoes
-Modge Podge
-Two different Glitter colors, because I liked the pink one, but thought it needed more silver.
-Two small sponge brushes
-Two paper plates
-Something to mix the glitter and glue together
This is what they looked like after the first coat, still wet. I really glopped it on.

I had a helper... but I think he was more interested in getting into things than helping. But he's cute so I'll let it slide.
It got a little messy! Don't be afraid of really loading the glitter into the glue. I put on two thick coats and that seemed to do. I waited for it to dry completely before adding coat two. I used about half of my Modge Podge and about half of one glitter bottle.
Ta-Da! They are done and dry. Since I already had the modge podge it only costed me about $18. I think they turned out great, and plus now I get to brag that I made them!

For Illustration class we are illustrating children's stories written by Flagler students. My story is about Timmy and here is my spot for it. I'll post the spread when I finish this weekend (it's looking really good!). In the mean time enjoy the spot, which I made completely in photoshop using my wacom tablet.

For my illustration class we had to do a portrait of 'the person of the year'. I picked Tina Fey. Below is the original painting and then a mock up of what the cover would look like.

A New Comic! I have a really poor quality scanner, so sorry!
This one is kind of personal, but definitely a exaggerated look at what happens during break-ups. I hope some people can relate it, and find truth in it. Just going through the motions. It's definitely a bit of a downer. But I learned a lot about comic making doing this one.

So I have been on a bit of a hiatus I suppose. Christmas break was a bit of a downer. BUT good news, I did get an awesome Wacom tablet for Christmas. So, now that school officially started today I am motivated and back! And I see that everyone and even imaginary characters are participating in hourly comics. So I thought I'd join in for a bit.

I was trying some new stuff on the tablet, experimenting. It's funny how you can see my motivation drop through out, until I called it quits. Haha, but here it is anyway.
Also, it involves a lot of me eating and a fictional word. CLICK TO READ!

Did you see the Jaundice going around?

So I have taken a bit of a Christmas break. But to appease the blog gods here is a little sketch I did on my NEW wacom tablet! Which means I did it completely on the computer, and drew it and colored it in photoshop. It's pretty much the best thing ever.

Inspiration Comes When Your Not Even Looking

So my near and dear friend Danielle informed me that she reads my blog! And not only that, but she has a suggestion for a featured artist.

David Shrigley. He mixes high brow and low brow (heavy on the low) art.
And after looking at his stuff, I felt inspired myself.

So this first one is basically full on Shringley style.


The second one I took some creative liberties and made it more my own. I really like it.

Also, I started this blog for my drawing 2 class, but it is definitely something I am going to keep because I really enjoy it. So don't fret! The posting won't stop!

Post Card

So I thought I'd post a postcard I made and plan to send to my brother when I get a second. It reminds me of Napoleon (but I'm sure others would say Elvis). I really hate how I did the text, the font is all wrong for the subject! That'll teach me to just draw what I want instead of thinking about it!

T-shirt design

A little something I made the the community service sorority here at Flagler. It seems so simple but took me a couple hours, makes me just realize that I am not very good at making things from scratch... or on illustrator. There was a lot of fighting, but I really like the result. Hopefully so will the other girls and they will make this a shirt!

Another Comic!

The first part is an actual conversation I overheard in art history class, it was so funny, I immediately knew I needed to make a comic.

COMICS

Horray! I have been trying to expirement with comic panels and different emotions. I got inspired after reading Andrew Lorenzi. Sometimes I feel like I don't show people the real me, and then they think I have no personality. NOT the case. Anyways, I am sure these images would look nicer if I took the time to erase the pencil lines.... but that will probably be my downfall because I can never be bothered to do that! Oh well.
